A young Ghanaian man who sells phone accessories has shared a devastating story about how he lost his entire business capital after investing in the online betting game Aviator. The anonymous trader revealed that he was running a successful phone and iPhone accessories shop until a friend persuaded him to try the platform with promises of quick profit.

Friend’s Advice Leads to Costly Investment

According to him, he initially invested GH¢350,000—money meant to support and expand his business—after being convinced that Aviator would bring easy returns. Instead, he lost all of it.

Speaking on Sompa FM with Oheneni Adazoa, he explained that the losses didn’t stop there. After becoming addicted to the platform, he even went as far as taking out bank loans to continue betting.

“I had money and owned a shop selling iPhones and accessories. A friend introduced me to Aviator and convinced me to try it. Since I started, I’ve spent all the money I used to run my business—almost GH¢350,000—and lost it. On top of that, I took a loan of about GH¢12,000 to invest,” he said in Twi.

Business Shut Down and Huge Debts

The young man shared that the addiction gradually took over his life. Even though he occasionally won, he found himself continuously chasing losses.

He revealed that he has now gone bankrupt, owes creditors a large amount, and has been forced to close his shop due to lack of funds.

“Sometimes you win, but you get addicted over time. Now I’ve locked up my shop and owe about GH¢70,000. I’ve stopped betting and I’m hoping to recover,” he added.

His story serves as a warning about the risks of gambling addiction and the dangers of using business capital or borrowed money to engage in high-risk betting platforms.
