The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) has proudly emerged as the winner of the prestigious “Regulatory Innovation Award” at the International Regulatory Awards 2025, hosted by the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) in Toronto, Canada.
This global recognition underscores LSLGA’s leadership in gaming regulation and its groundbreaking strides in responsible gaming innovation.
The award specifically celebrates SAFEPLAY, Africa’s first regulator-led, multi-operator self-exclusion platform, centrally managed by the regulator and seamlessly integrated with licensed operators’ systems.
SAFEPLAY stands as a continental model for player protection, empowering individuals to self-exclude across multiple gaming platforms while reinforcing the Authority’s commitment to a safe, fair, and transparent gaming environment.
In his acceptance speech, LSLGA CEO, Mr. Bashir Are, expressed profound gratitude to the IAGR for the honour and urged fellow regulators worldwide to adopt citizen-focused frameworks that safeguard players and ensure gaming remains a source of entertainment, not distress.
