With the end of 2025 approaching, Burkina Faso’s National Lottery (LONAB) is ramping up its efforts, gearing up for a strong finish to the year while continuing to invest in social and community projects. As a cornerstone of public revenue and community development efforts in Burkina Faso, LONAB recently held its monthly flag-raising ceremony at its headquarters in Ouagadougou.
This event served as a moment for reflection and forward planning, bringing together staff and management to review achievements from the past year and outline objectives for the months ahead. During his address, LONAB’s Director General Ibrahim Ben Harouna Zarani praised employees for their dedication and contributions to the organization’s success and national development goals.
He noted that the lottery is currently finalizing its budget for 2026, with draft proposals from all divisions compiled and awaiting approval from the Board of Directors. “The team has done remarkable work appreciated by everyone,” Zarani commented. “As the year wraps up, we are preparing the 2026 budget, with drafts submitted by all divisions awaiting Board approval.”
In addition to its core lottery operations, LONAB has maintained an active presence in Burkina Faso’s social and cultural landscape throughout 2025. The organization recently contributed CFA 100 million (€152,000) to sponsor the 36th edition of the Tour du Faso, the country’s premier cycling event and one of Africa’s most prestigious sporting competitions. LONAB has also supported major cultural initiatives, such as the FESPACO film festival, reinforcing its role as a key patron of national culture and creativity.
These sponsorships demonstrate the organization’s commitment to promoting social cohesion and national pride through sport, culture, and community development. As 2025 comes to a close, LONAB is mobilizing teams across its regional and departmental offices to ensure the completion of ongoing projects and a smooth transition into 2026.
Although the 2026 budget has yet to be published, management confirmed that all divisions have submitted their proposals, which will be reviewed by the Board in the coming weeks. The new budget is expected to align with the institution’s Strategic Plan 2016–2025, which emphasizes professionalism, integrity, solidarity, innovation, and responsibility as guiding values.
LONAB’s strategic plan has served as a roadmap for its business growth and social impact over the past decade, positioning the organization as both a leader in Burkina Faso’s gaming sector and a vital contributor to national development through funding for infrastructure, education, health, and cultural initiatives.
