Togo’s national lottery operator, LONATO, is introducing a new lottery game called “Loto Détente.” The draw will take place every Sunday, starting 2 August. LONATO unveiled the game at a press conference in Lomé on July 30, 2026.

Loto Détente follows the same rules as LONATO’s other lottery draws, but it will be played exclusively on Sundays. The new format gives players an additional opportunity to win while helping the state-owned operator increase revenue.

“Loto Détente is held on Sundays. The game also includes the Double Chance option, which gives our players more opportunities to win,” said Justin Kokouvi Amédomé, LONATO’s Director of Marketing and Innovation.

Each draw will generate 10 winning numbers. Players who choose the Double Chance option can improve their odds of receiving a payout. With the launch of Loto Détente, LONATO will operate 14 draws in total. The additional Sunday draw is expected to boost sales and generate more revenue for the government.

The introduction comes as Togo works to raise more tax revenue from gambling. Since 1 January 2026, lottery winnings of 500,000 CFA francs or more have been subject to a 5% withholding tax, collected by the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR). The tax is deducted automatically when prizes are paid. For example, a prize of 500,000 CFA francs would have a deduction of 25,000 CFA francs, leaving the winner with 475,000 CFA francs.
