The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB), in partnership with the Uganda Police Force, has intensified its nationwide enforcement campaign against illegal gaming operations under Operation “Mashine Haramu.”

To date, the joint operation has resulted in the impoundment of more than 6,000 illegal gaming machines across Uganda, including a recent seizure of 215 machines in the West Nile region. The enforcement initiative forms part of the NLGRB’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance, protect the integrity of Uganda’s gaming sector, and safeguard communities from the risks associated with unlicensed gaming activities.

According to the regulator, unlicensed gaming machines expose communities to unregulated practices while increasing the risk of gambling participation by minors and other vulnerable groups. The Board reaffirmed that such operations undermine responsible gaming standards and violate the country’s gaming regulations.

The NLGRB emphasized that enforcement actions under Operation “Mashine Haramu” will continue across the country, with regulators and law enforcement agencies working together to identify, seize, and remove illegal gaming machines from operation.

The Board reiterated its commitment to promoting a safe, fair, and well-regulated gaming environment, urging gaming operators to comply with all licensing requirements and encouraging members of the public to report suspected illegal gaming activities to the relevant authorities.
