The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has confiscated 102 unlicensed gaming machines from the districts of Luuka, Mayuge, and Kumi as part of its ongoing nationwide enforcement campaign to strengthen regulatory compliance and protect the integrity of Uganda’s gaming sector.

The operation forms part of the Board’s broader strategy to combat illegal gaming activities, promote responsible gaming, and ensure that all gaming operators comply with the country’s legal and regulatory framework.

According to the NLGRB, unlicensed gaming machines operate outside the safeguards designed to protect players, ensure accountability, and uphold the integrity of Uganda’s regulated gaming industry. Such operations expose consumers to unnecessary risks while undermining licensed businesses and government revenue.

The Board emphasized that effective regulation extends beyond law enforcement. It is also about building public trust by ensuring that gaming activities are conducted fairly, transparently, and in accordance with established standards.

The latest enforcement exercise demonstrates the NLGRB’s continued commitment to safeguarding consumers and maintaining confidence in the regulated gaming market. By removing illegal gaming machines from operation, the Board aims to create a safer and more accountable environment for both players and licensed operators.

As the NLGRB continues expanding its enforcement footprint across the country, it reaffirmed that its objective remains clear: to foster a gaming environment where compliance is expected, accountability is upheld, and the public interest remains at the centre of regulatory action.

The Board urged all gaming operators to ensure full compliance with Uganda’s gaming laws and licensing requirements, warning that enforcement operations against illegal gaming activities will continue nationwide.
