The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has reinforced its commitment to combating illegal gaming activities through intensified enforcement operations across the country.

During recent targeted operations along Mityana Road covering Buyala, Bujuko, Bukasa, Nabweru, and Lusaze as well as parts of Eastern Uganda, enforcement teams successfully confiscated a total of 104 illegal gaming machines found operating in violation of established laws and regulatory requirements.

These actions form part of Operation Mashine Haramu, a nationwide enforcement initiative aimed at eliminating unauthorized gaming equipment, strengthening regulatory compliance, and ensuring that only duly licensed operators participate in Uganda’s gaming sector.

The proliferation of illegal gaming machines continues to pose serious risks to communities, including exposure of vulnerable populations to unregulated gambling, loss of government revenue, and the erosion of public trust in the gaming industry. The NLGRB remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard the public and uphold the integrity of the regulated gaming environment.

In addition to enforcement, the Board is enhancing public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the dangers of illegal gambling and the importance of engaging only with licensed operators. Collaborative efforts with law enforcement agencies and local authorities are also being strengthened to ensure sustained impact and nationwide coverage.

The NLGRB calls upon all stakeholders including industry players, community leaders, and the general public to actively support these efforts. Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected illegal gaming activities and to verify the licensing status of gaming operators before participation.

The Board reiterates that strict penalties will continue to be imposed on individuals and entities found operating outside the legal framework.
