NLGRB Promotes Responsible Gaming at National Leadership Retreat in Kyankwanzi

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) highlighted the importance of responsible gaming and effective public-sector leadership during a five-day leadership retreat held at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi, Uganda.

The retreat, which began on 27 September 2026, brought together Board Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers of public-sector institutions under the theme “From Governance to Impact.”

The programme provided a platform for public-sector leaders to examine how governance, execution and accountability can be better aligned to improve service delivery and contribute to Uganda’s development agenda.

Discussions focused on key challenges affecting public-sector service delivery, identifying institutional priorities and developing practical strategies aimed at translating those priorities into measurable outcomes.

During the retreat, the NLGRB’s leadership also shared the Board’s mandate and ongoing work to promote a well-regulated, responsible and sustainable gaming sector in Uganda.

Participants were encouraged to become responsible gaming ambassadors within their institutions and communities, supporting efforts to promote safer gaming practices, protect vulnerable persons and increase public awareness of responsible participation in gaming.

The retreat also reinforced the importance of collaboration among public-sector institutions in addressing national development priorities and improving the impact of government programmes.

The NLGRB said the lessons and insights gained from the retreat would support its continued efforts to strengthen institutional performance and contribute to Uganda’s broader development objectives, including the country’s 10X, US$500 billion economic agenda.

The five-day programme concluded with renewed emphasis on accountability, coordinated leadership and translating governance priorities into tangible outcomes for Ugandans.
