NLGRB Seizes Over 370 Illegal Gaming Machines Across Uganda

Uganda’s National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) seized more than 370 illegal gaming machines during enforcement operations across the country in October 2026.

The crackdown, conducted with the Uganda Police Force under the Board’s #OperationMashineHaramu initiative, targeted unlicensed gaming equipment in several districts and regions.

In an update issued on October 16, the NLGRB said officers had recovered more than 170 machines across 11 districts: Ibanda, Mbarara, Kabale, Masaka, Pallisa, Butebo, Namutumba, Apac, Nwoya, Oyam and Kole.

A second operation, announced on October 29, resulted in the seizure of more than 200 additional machines. The operation covered the Kampala Metropolitan Area, Greater KMP, Isingiro, Kibuku, Pallisa and Lamwo, including areas near Uganda’s borders.

The Board credited the enforcement effort to cooperation with police commanders, local authorities, community members, whistleblowers and media partners. Their reports have helped authorities identify suspected illegal gaming activities.

The NLGRB has urged the public to report suspected unlicensed operators, as well as manufacturers and suppliers of illegal gaming machines. The Board says it will continue working to strengthen compliance, combat illegal gambling and promote responsible gaming across Uganda.
