The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) has joined the Department of Employment and Labour’s Community Outreach Advocacy Programme at Sandfontein Community Hall, using the initiative to promote responsible gambling and raise awareness of the risks associated with illegal gambling activities.

The community outreach programme is designed to bring essential government services closer to residents while providing communities with access to relevant information and support. As part of its participation, the NWGB engaged with residents to provide information about its mandate, services and the importance of responsible gambling.

The Board also used the outreach to caution job-seekers about the risks posed by illegal gambling operations. Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and avoid organizations that may attempt to recruit them for exploitative activities under the guise of gambling-related employment opportunities.

The NWGB reminded community members that participating in illegal gambling activities is a criminal offense and urged residents to engage only with licensed and regulated gambling operators.

The Board emphasized the importance of making informed decisions and understanding the potential risks associated with gambling.

The NWGB continues to support initiatives that strengthen public awareness, protect communities and encourage responsible participation in the gambling sector.
