The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has successfully hosted its inaugural Gambling Industry Engagement, bringing together licensed gambling operators, regulators, and key industry stakeholders for a structured dialogue focused on the future development of Rwanda’s gambling sector.

The engagement, officiated by RDB Chief Executive Officer Jean-Guy K. Afrika, served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between regulators and industry participants while addressing key priorities including compliance, responsible gambling, digital transformation, and sustainable sector growth.

Speaking during the event, Afrika emphasized the importance of balancing industry expansion with effective regulatory oversight. “A sustainable gambling industry is one that balances growth with responsibility. By strengthening compliance, responsible gaming, and digitisation, we are building a sector that is trusted, well-regulated, and positioned for long-term growth,” he said.

The forum provided stakeholders with an opportunity to discuss emerging industry trends, regulatory expectations, operational challenges, and opportunities for innovation within Rwanda’s evolving gambling landscape. Participants also exchanged insights on enhancing consumer protection measures, improving transparency, and leveraging technology to promote responsible gaming practices.

As the gambling industry continues to grow, Rwanda remains committed to maintaining a robust regulatory framework that safeguards players, supports business growth, and contributes positively to national economic development.

The engagement concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective commitment by regulators and licensed operators to uphold high standards of governance, foster industry-wide collaboration, and promote responsible gambling.
