Shacks Evolution Studios Launches Portable Zazzu Crash Game

Shacks Evolution Studios Launches Portable Zazzu Crash Game

African iGaming content studio Shacks Evolution Studios has officially launched Zazuu Crash, a new crash-format casino game developed in partnership with Nigerian recording artist Portable.

The game is now live and available for integration through the studio’s existing operator and aggregator network. It marks the latest addition to a catalogue that has expanded rapidly since the studio was founded in 2021.

The Game

Zazuu Crash sits within one of the most popular categories in modern online casino content: crash games. The format strips gambling down to a simple, high-engagement decision.

As soon as a round starts, a multiplier rises in real time. Players must either cash out immediately to lock in their current multiplier or hold on, risking everything if the round “crashes” before they act. There’s no card to interpret and no paytable to study, just a rising number, a countdown, and pressure in shared real time.

In recent years, crash games have become a major force across African betting platforms, with global hits like Aviator helping demonstrate that African, and especially mobile-first, audiences respond strongly to short round times, instant comprehension, and a visible shared multiplier that creates genuine tension.

Built on that proven mechanic, Zazuu Crash is engineered to match the network and device conditions commonly found across the markets Shacks Evolution Studios already serves.

What sets the title apart is not just gameplay, but branding. Instead of launching yet another unbranded crash game into a category crowded with similar entries, Shacks developed Zazuu Crash around a real, licensed partnership with one of Nigeria’s most talked-about young artists.

The Partner

Portable, born Habeeb Okikiola in Abeokuta, Ogun State, is one of Nigeria’s more unusual modern music success stories. Before late 2021, he was relatively unknown. That changed when he broke into the mainstream with “Zazu Zeh”, a track featuring Olamide and dancer Poco Lee that spread quickly across Nigerian social media before crossing into the wider Afrobeats conversation.

Unlike a slow climb, the track created a sudden cultural spike. For months afterward, people repeated the phrase in everyday conversation and street culture, reinforcing Portable’s momentum.

His online following reportedly grew by more than twenty-fold following the release, and the “Zazu Zeh” video has since been watched more than 11 million times.

In the years since, Portable has remained a consistent figure in Nigerian pop culture, known for both his outsized personality and his ability to generate headlines alongside his music.

For a gaming studio trying to license a name that Nigerian audiences instantly recognize, that blend of virality and staying power is hard to replicate through more traditional celebrity partnerships.

The Studio Behind It

Shacks Evolution Studios positions itself as Africa’s first iGaming studio, founded in 2021 as a dedicated content developer focused on creating instant and crash-format games specifically for African markets, rather than adapting titles originally designed for Europe or Asia.

Since launching, the studio has expanded its catalogue beyond 30 titles, organized across three main collections: a core slate of live games; a fully customizable Shacks Originals line for operators seeking branded exclusives; and a Signature Games section reserved for culturally specific, celebrity-linked content. Zazuu Crash is the newest addition to that Signature category.

Distribution has grown in step with the catalogue. Shacks’ games are now live across more than two dozen African countries, ranging from major regional brands to smaller local operators.

That scale contributed to international attention earlier this year, when Betsson selected Shacks as its preferred studio to build a bespoke title for Betsson’s launch in Cameroon, a notable vote of confidence in a relatively young African studio.

Across the catalogue, Shacks follows a clear technical priority: games must run smoothly on mobile networks and lower-cost devices common in many target markets, not only on the latest phones with the fastest connections. This constraint has shaped a lightweight build process across the studio’s library.

Why It Matters for the Industry

The timing of this launch is significant. Celebrity-branded gaming content is becoming more common across emerging markets, but quality varies widely.

Strong partnerships built on real, negotiated licensing and genuine audience overlap tend to outperform the more superficial versions of the same idea where a celebrity’s name or image is attached to a generic product with little connection to the audience.

Zazuu Crash appears designed around that stronger model: a crash game format already proven with mobile audiences, paired with a cultural figure whose audience aligns closely with players attracted to fast, easy-to-understand gameplay.

For operators, that makes the value fairly direct. A game that arrives with existing recognition among a targeted demographic reduces the marketing burden typically required to get players to try something new, an advantage in markets where customer acquisition costs continue to rise.

It also highlights a shift in how African-focused gaming content is being created. For years, the common approach was to adapt games designed elsewhere through light localization changing language settings or currency symbols while keeping the core experience largely the same.

Zazuu Crash reflects the opposite approach: a game conceived from the start around a local cultural reference and built by a studio based in the same market it’s designed for. As competition for players grows across the continent, that kind of ground-up relevance is likely to matter even more.

Availability

Zazuu Crash is live now. Operators can access the title through Shacks Evolution Studios existing aggregator and direct-integration network. Interested operators can reach the studio through its usual business development channels.
