The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) has proposed a new industry engagement initiative, Play Your Part: Responsible Gambling Day 2026, aimed at promoting responsible gambling awareness and strengthening collaboration among licensed operators in South Africa’s Western Cape province.
Planned for November 2026 in recognition of Responsible Gambling Month, the proposed outdoor event would bring license holders together for a day of team-based activities, creative challenges and responsible gambling awareness initiatives.
The initiative seeks to encourage cooperation across the gambling industry while reinforcing the shared responsibility of operators and other stakeholders in preventing gambling-related harm. Under the theme “Play Your Part,” the proposed event is intended to highlight the role that industry participants can play in promoting responsible gambling practices and raising awareness of the potential risks associated with gambling.
The WCGRB has invited license holders operating in the Western Cape to express their interest in participating. The deadline for expressions of interest is Friday, October 23, 2026. According to the Board, an invitation outlining the proposed event and providing further details will be circulated directly to license holders.
However, the event remains subject to sufficient interest from participants and the finalization of the necessary arrangements. Through the proposed initiative, the WCGRB aims to promote industry engagement and encourage a collective approach to responsible gambling, with an emphasis on awareness, collaboration and the prevention of gambling-related harm.
