The Gambling Authority of Botswana has announced that it will be holding a public hearing from August 6th to 8th, 2024, at the Travel Lodge in Block 3, Gaborone, to consider applications for Bookmaker and Totalisator licenses.

According to the public notice, the Gambling Authority received applications for these licenses and published them in various local newspapers, including the Government Gazette, Sunday Standard, Daily News, and The Voice, to allow any interested parties to lodge objections. However, no objections were received during the specified period.

The public hearing will take place from 8:00 AM each day, and only the Board of the Gambling Authority will be permitted to make inquiries on the submitted applications.

Individuals interested in attending the public hearing are advised to contact the Licensing Services Manager by phone at 3986600 or 3957672, or by email at betting@gamblingauthority.co.bw, using “Bookmaker Licence Public Hearing” as the subject line. They should provide their name, phone number, and the number of intended attendees.

The Gambling Authority’s decision on the Bookmaker and Totalisator license applications is expected to be announced following the conclusion of the public hearing.
