Gambling is a significant source of tax revenue for the Ugandan government. According to Denis Mudene Ngabirano, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, the over 50 licensed gaming companies in Uganda have a total turnovers of three trillion Ugandan shillings.
These companies contributed over 130 billion Ugandan shillings in tax revenue to the Uganda Revenue Authority. Ngabirano stated that the gaming industry in Uganda is growing, and the regulatory board has secured partnerships to promote responsible gaming practices.
