The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) and the African iGaming Alliance (AIA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation and promote integrity across Africa’s fast-growing sports and betting markets.
The agreement creates a framework for joint action between the two associations, both of which represent leading regulated betting operators. It aims to advance responsible, transparent, and sustainable growth within Africa’s dynamic gaming ecosystem.
Under the MoU, IBIA will serve as the AIA’s strategic betting integrity partner, while AIA will act as IBIA’s principal betting policy and regulation partner for Africa.
Together, they will collaborate on information exchange, coordinated policy engagement, and integrity-focused initiatives designed to protect consumers, licensed operators, and sporting competitions from betting-related manipulation

Between 2020 and Q3 2025, IBIA identified 131 suspicious betting alerts across African sporting events — including 64 in football and 62 in tennis. This data underscores the urgent need for continued collaboration, monitoring, and policy alignment across the continent.
With over 90 member operators and 200 global betting brands, IBIA monitors more than 1.5 million sporting events and $300 billion in wagers annually. Its intelligence network has been instrumental in the detection and prosecution of match-fixing cases worldwide, positioning it as a trusted integrity partner for regulators, policymakers, and sports bodies.
The AIA–IBIA partnership represents a turning point for Africa’s gaming industry, fostering a unified approach to regulation, transparency, and integrity — essential pillars for sustainable growth in one of the world’s most promising markets.
