Lagos Waste Management Receives New Waste Compactor Trucks from LSLGA

LSLGA Donates 10 Waste Compactor Trucks to Lagos Waste Management

Reinforcing its commitment to social impact and sustainable development, the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) has donated 10 waste compactor trucks to the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources to strengthen Lagos waste management operations across the state.

The donation, made under the Authority’s Good Causes initiative, demonstrates how the regulated gaming and lottery sector can contribute to meaningful community development projects that improve the quality of life of Lagos residents while supporting a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony, the Honorable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized the critical role of collaboration among government institutions, private sector stakeholders, and development partners in addressing the environmental challenges associated with rapid urbanization.

He noted that Lagos generates more than 13,000 tonnes of waste daily, underscoring the need for innovative solutions, strategic investments, and strong partnerships to sustain the state’s environmental agenda.

The donation aligns with the vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to build a cleaner, more resilient, and environmentally sustainable Lagos. Through this contribution, LSLGA aims to support ongoing efforts to improve waste collection, evacuation services, and environmental sanitation across the state.

While acknowledging that the waste management requirements of a megacity such as Lagos extend beyond the addition of 10 waste compactor trucks, the Authority expressed pride in making a meaningful contribution to strengthening the state’s waste management infrastructure.

LSLGA remains committed to advancing social impact beyond its regulatory mandate by supporting initiatives across key sectors, including education, healthcare, community development, and environmental sustainability. The Authority commended the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), and other stakeholders for their continued efforts in maintaining a cleaner Lagos and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sustainable development and improve the well-being of all Lagosians.
