The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has strengthened its collaboration with key government institutions through a high-level training and stakeholder engagement focused on advancing the implementation of gaming standards across Uganda’s gaming sector.
The engagement brought together representatives from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), and Uganda’s Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court to enhance shared understanding of gaming standards, regulatory requirements, compliance expectations and enforcement mechanisms.
The initiative underscores the importance of technical knowledge and inter-agency cooperation in ensuring effective gaming regulation. Beyond establishing rules and requirements, effective oversight requires regulators and enforcement institutions to understand gaming systems, technical standards, compliance obligations and emerging risks within the sector.
The participation of UNBS strengthened the standards and conformity assessment perspective, supporting quality assurance and the consistent application of technical requirements across the gaming industry.
Meanwhile, URA contributed its expertise in tax compliance and revenue assurance, reinforcing the importance of transparency, accountability and lawful participation within the gaming sector.
The involvement of the Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court further strengthened the enforcement dimension of gaming regulation by supporting a shared understanding of the legal and judicial pathways available for addressing regulatory violations.
Through these partnerships, the NLGRB aims to strengthen coordination among key institutions, promote greater compliance and contribute to the development of a safer, more transparent and accountable gaming industry in Uganda.
The Board expressed its appreciation to UNBS, URA, the Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court and all participating stakeholders for their continued collaboration and commitment to strengthening gaming regulation and responsible gaming practices in Uganda.
