The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) has reinforced its commitment to responsible gambling and community education through its participation in the Thuntsha Lerole & District Development Model Programme held at the Lonely Park Multipurpose Center in Mahikeng.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Board to interact with community members and raise awareness about responsible gambling practices, including the potential risks associated with excessive and uncontrolled gambling.

During the outreach, the NWGB emphasized that gambling should be viewed primarily as a form of entertainment and should not be relied upon as a means of addressing financial difficulties or generating income.

The Board also highlighted the potential consequences of gambling addiction, noting that problematic gambling can affect not only individuals but also their families and wider communities.

Community members were encouraged to recognize the warning signs of gambling-related harm and seek professional assistance when gambling becomes difficult to control.

The NWGB directed individuals requiring support to the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF), which provides counseling and support services for people experiencing gambling-related challenges.

The Board reiterated the importance of making informed and responsible gambling choices as part of broader efforts to protect communities and promote safer gambling practices across the North West Province.

The Thuntsha Lerole engagement forms part of ongoing community outreach efforts aimed at increasing public awareness and encouraging responsible participation in gambling activities.
