The Director General of the Senegal National Lottery (LONASE), Toussaint Manga, has announced plans for the construction of a modern new agency in Coumba Djiguène during the second phase of his nationwide tour. The visit forms part of an ongoing engagement programme aimed at strengthening relations with staff, partners, and users across the country’s gaming sector.

It also provides an opportunity for direct discussions on operational challenges and sector-wide priorities. Speaking in Kaolack at the start of this phase, Manga explained that the tour is intended to foster closer collaboration with LONASE agents, sales representatives, and partners. He noted that these engagements are essential for addressing shared concerns and improving service delivery within the industry.

On staff welfare and infrastructure development, the Director General reiterated management’s commitment to improving working conditions. He confirmed plans to replace the current Kaolack facility with a modern R+10 structure, describing the region as one with strong potential that justifies a more advanced and functional headquarters. The proposed building is expected to accommodate multiple uses across different levels.

He also addressed ongoing administrative reforms, particularly the regularization of long-serving service providers, some of whom have worked with the organization for 10 to 15 years. He indicated that these measures are aligned with LONASE’s five-year strategic plan. Regarding concerns from bettors, Manga revisited the debate surrounding the 20% tax on winnings, stating that the levy plays an important role in supporting national economic development and public finances.

He further announced that LONASE will host the African Lotteries Association (ALA) General Assembly in Dakar on the 23rd and 24th of this month. The event is expected to focus on technological innovation and the future development of the lottery and gaming sector across Africa.
