The Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) has strengthened its collaboration with government authorities after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG).

The agreement is aimed at improving coordination between Tanzania’s gaming regulator and local government structures. It focuses on strengthening oversight, promoting compliance, and increasing public awareness of gaming regulations. GBT says the partnership is an important step toward building a more coordinated and effective regulatory framework for the gaming industry.

A key goal of the MoU is to enhance cooperation between the national regulator and regional and local government authorities. Since gaming activities operate across different areas of the country, collaboration is essential for effective monitoring and enforcement.

Under the agreement, the Gaming Board and PMO-RALG will work more closely to address regulatory concerns and improve the flow of information between national, regional, and local levels. The partnership is expected to help authorities respond more efficiently to changes in the sector while ensuring that regulatory responsibilities are better coordinated.

The MoU was signed by James B. Mbalwe, Director General of the Gaming Board of Tanzania, and Adolf H. Ndunguru, Permanent Secretary of PMO-RALG. The institutions will now implement the MoU’s priorities, including public awareness, capacity development, information sharing, and compliance monitoring.

GBT says the partnership comes as Tanzania continues to strengthen its gaming regulatory environment and improve coordination among stakeholders. With greater cooperation between the national regulator and local authorities, the MoU is expected to support a gaming market that is more transparent, accountable, and effectively supervised.
