Nine years after opening in 2017, Time Square casino continues to strengthen its position as one of Gauteng’s leading entertainment and lifestyle destinations, recording sustained growth across gaming, live entertainment, conferencing, dining, and hospitality.
Since its launch, the complex has paid out approximately R2.4 billion in jackpots, with more than R219 million awarded in the past year, an average of over R18.2 million per month. This ongoing performance reflects strong momentum on the casino floor, supported by consistent guest engagement and frequent major jackpot wins.
“Time Square has built real momentum over the past nine years, and what stands out is the consistency of that growth,” said newly appointed General Manager Bryan O’Connor. “From the casino floor to the arena and conferencing spaces, the focus is on delivering at scale while maintaining a high standard of experience for every guest.”
Strategically located opposite Menlyn Maine Mall, Time Square offers a wide range of attractions for visitors of all ages. Family-focused entertainment includes The Magic Company, featuring arcade games, racing simulators, augmented reality experiences, and UV ten-pin bowling, as well as Tick Tocks Crèche, providing supervised childcare for younger guests.
At the heart of its entertainment offering is the 8,500-seat Sunbet Arena, which continues to host leading international and local performers. Recent highlights include Bryan Adams, UB40, Doja Cat, and Boyz II Men (2026), following 2025 performances by Kenny G and Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance. These events have cemented Time Square’s reputation as a premier live entertainment venue in South Africa.
Beyond entertainment, Time Square has become a significant business and conferencing destination. During 2025, the venue hosted more than 1,200 events and groups, welcoming over 22,500 guests. This includes large-scale arena bookings, reinforcing the complex’s ability to deliver high-volume events without compromising service quality. Its conferencing facilities, located approximately 10 minutes from Lynnwood, offer flexible, technology-enabled spaces designed for executive meetings, corporate events, and large-scale conferences.
The Time Square Hotel further enhances the destination offering. It is the only hotel in South Africa to feature three-, four-, and five-star accommodation under one roof, allowing guests to choose options that suit their needs and budgets. This model has been recognized by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa for its innovative approach to accessibility and quality.
Dining across the precinct is equally diverse, with restaurants spanning three levels and accommodating nearly 2,600 guests in total. A curated mix of quick-service and fine dining establishments ensures variety while maintaining consistent standards across all culinary offerings.
From gaming and entertainment to business tourism and hospitality, Time Square continues to evolve as a high-capacity, multi-use destination. Its combination of scale, variety, and consistent delivery has positioned it as a key player in South Africa’s leisure and events landscape. As it enters its tenth year, Time Square remains focused on expanding its offering while sustaining the momentum that has defined its first decade.
