Richard Muwonge, a local businessman in Kayabwe Town Council, disappeared from his family’s midst on a fateful Friday evening following a substantial loss of over Shs6 million in sports betting at a local facility in Kayabwe.

“He later left on a boda boda, but we were unaware of the direction he had taken. Around 7:00 pm on Friday, we received the devastating news of his drowning,” Kamoga recounted, underlining the profound sorrow experienced by the family.
A Mysterious Twist
Adding to the perplexing nature of this tragedy, Mr. Abdulrahman Kamani, a close friend of the deceased, unveiled a startling revelation.
Muwonge had approached him earlier on that fateful Sunday, seeking financial assistance.
Muwonge confided in Kamani that he had suffered significant losses and urgently needed Shs1.5 million from his account to resolve his pressing financial predicament.
“We had an online business together with the deceased (Muwonge), with some funds in our joint account.
He came to me and confided that he had suffered significant losses but required additional funds to finalize a deal.
We visited a mobile money agent, completed the transaction, and to my absolute shock, he met his untimely demise on the very same day,” Kamani shared, emphasizing the abrupt and tragic turn of events.
The painful conclusion to this heart-wrenching story unfolded on Sunday morning when local fishermen successfully retrieved Muwonge’s lifeless body from the depths of the river.
