The Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) and the Capital Markets Commission (Comissão do Mercado de Capitais – CMC) have formalized a landmark Institutional Cooperation Protocol designed to reinforce regulatory coordination, improve oversight, and mitigate risks across Angola’s gaming and financial markets.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Nerethz Tati, Director General of the ISJ, and Dr. Elmer Serrão, Chairman of the CMC.
It establishes a joint framework for technical collaboration, information exchange, and capacity-building initiatives, with a particular focus on strengthening mechanisms to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Through this partnership, both regulators aim to enhance transparency, governance, and compliance within their respective sectors, while encouraging operators to align their internal control systems with strengthened supervisory standards.
The initiative underscores a shared commitment to building a resilient, transparent, and internationally compliant financial ecosystem.
In response to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations following Angola’s inclusion on the “Grey List,” this collaboration represents a coordinated national effort to consolidate responsibilities across regulatory bodies.
By promoting inter-agency cooperation and experience sharing, ISJ and CMC are setting a new precedent for integrity, accountability, and risk-based supervision in Angola’s regulated industries.
