NWGB and SARGF Raise Gambling Addiction Awareness in Klerksdorp

The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) and the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) have stepped up efforts to raise awareness of gambling addiction and promote access to support services during the third day of their Punter Activation campaign in Klerksdorp Central Business District (CBD), South Africa.

The community outreach focused on encouraging individuals and families affected by gambling-related harm to seek professional assistance and understand the support options available to them. During the campaign, the team referred individuals requiring assistance to professional psychologists and provided guidance on self-exclusion procedures and blocking online betting accounts.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of regular community outreach in helping people recognize gambling-related harm, access appropriate services and understand the steps available to protect themselves and their families.

The NWGB and SARGF said the positive response from members of the public and licensed gambling operators reinforced the need for continued engagement to ensure that people affected by gambling addiction know where to seek help.

The organizations encouraged individuals experiencing gambling-related difficulties, as well as those concerned about a loved one’s gambling behavior, to seek professional support.

People seeking assistance can contact the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation’s helpline on 0800 006 008 or reach its support team via WhatsApp on 076 675 0710. The campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to promote responsible gambling, improve awareness of available support services and address gambling-related harm within local communities.
